Opening a bright screen to choose an evening recording can feel out of place in a dim room. The practical goal is a display you can read without repeatedly adjusting it. This guide separates two controls that are easy to confuse: screen brightness and the interface colour scheme. It is an organisation tip, not a sleep treatment or a recommendation for one ideal brightness percentage.
Start with the screen you actually use
Sit where you plan to listen and open the page where you choose the recording. Look at a title, a short description and the playback button. Do not judge the setup from a dark wallpaper alone: a menu or article can look different. Keep the room lighting as you intend to use it. That gives you a useful comparison when you change one setting.
Adjust brightness first
Apple documents a brightness slider in Control Center and in Settings under Display & Brightness. Move it gradually, then return to the recording screen. Stop when you can comfortably identify the title and controls. Avoid copying a percentage from someone else’s phone: the room, device and reader differ. If text becomes difficult to distinguish, bring the brightness back up before changing anything else.
Treat Dark Mode as a separate choice
Apple provides a Dark Mode control by holding the brightness bar in Control Center. Try it separately from the brightness adjustment, then return to your content. A darker colour scheme and a lower brightness level are different choices. Do not assume every website or app follows the same appearance setting; check the actual page instead of expecting a particular Hushbreath interface.
Keep the controls readable
Before starting a recording, identify play, pause and the way back to the selection page. If a label disappears into the background, reconsider the appearance you just chose. You can prefer the lighter scheme at a lower brightness, or the darker scheme at another level. The useful result is a combination you can operate, not the darkest possible display.
Save a short description of what worked
A note such as “bedside lamp on, dark appearance, title still clear” is more repeatable than a bare slider percentage. After selecting the audio, leave display experiments for another time. Hushbreath can fit into this evening pause; the screen setup is an iPhone choice, not a promised app feature. No display setting in this guide guarantees relaxation or sleep.
