Headphones or phone speaker: choosing how to listen to Hushbreath

By ·

You do not need headphones to use Hushbreath. The public App Store listing supports both headphones and the phone speaker. The useful question is which option suits your space and feels convenient tonight. Neither choice promises a better breathing result or faster sleep.

Start with the room

If someone else is reading, resting or working nearby, headphones can keep your chosen narration more personal. Ask whether audio from the phone would disturb them before starting. If you have a room to yourself, the speaker may be the simplest option: there is nothing to wear or connect. Choose for your actual surroundings rather than treating one setup as the correct way to relax.

Choose comfort over equipment

Use equipment you already find comfortable. You do not need to buy special headphones for a Hushbreath ritual. If wearing them makes you keep adjusting the fit, try the phone speaker instead. Place the phone on a stable surface where you can reach the pause control. Keep the speaker unobstructed so that you are not compensating for a muffled sound by repeatedly increasing the volume.

Check the output before settling in

Connect your headphones first if you plan to use them, then start an available ritual and listen briefly. Confirm that the sound comes from the device you intended. Begin at a low, comfortable volume and adjust only as needed to understand the narration. Hushbreath has separate voice and background controls, so a quiet voice does not always mean the phone's main volume is too low.

Changing your mind during a session

Pause before switching from headphones to the speaker or back. Make the change, confirm the output and resume when ready. Hushbreath Support says playback pauses when headphones disconnect; reconnect them and resume if that happens unexpectedly. A disconnected device is not a reason to restart the whole ritual or count the session as a failure.

Put the screen aside when ready

The public listing confirms playback with the screen locked. Once you hear the narration clearly, you can lock the screen and leave the phone within reach. You can pause or stop whenever you prefer. If your setup is inconvenient, change it; the aim is a practical listening arrangement, not completing a test.

Access stays the same

The choice of speaker or headphones does not change the offer: one complete five-minute Sigh of relief session is available once without a card or subscription. Continuing requires paid access. There is no subscription free trial. Check the current offer in the app before purchasing.
