After the voice ends: planning the end of a Hushbreath ritual

By ·

The last spoken instruction does not have to be the last sound you hear. Hushbreath lets background sound continue after the guidance and fade out gently. Decide how you want the listening to end before starting, so you do not have to make that choice during a quiet moment. This guide is about organising playback, not making sleep happen on a timer.

Separate guided time from listening time

A ritual’s stated length describes the guided session. If background sound continues afterwards, your listening can last longer than that guided part. When you have a fixed amount of time, allow for both. For example, if you have only a short break before another task, choose a guided session that fits and avoid planning extra listening that would make you late. Continuing sound is a preference, not an obligation.

Choose what remains when the voice stops

The public description lists rain, gentle waves and a soft ambient soundscape, as well as voice only. Think about the ending rather than choosing a sound just because it is available. Would you like an interval of rain after the spoken guidance, or would you rather finish without a background layer? If you choose voice only, do not expect a background track to carry the ending. Use the options available in your installed version.

Set the balance while you are still looking at the screen

Voice and background have separate volume controls. Adjust the balance during preparation, using a comfortable media volume on the phone. The guidance itself becomes quieter as the ritual progresses, so a quieter voice near the end is not by itself proof of a fault. Avoid repeatedly raising the whole phone volume merely to make every pause or fading phrase sound equally loud.

Plan a simple ending in advance

Before listening, choose the available continuation and fade settings, settle the phone where you want it and decide what you will do next. One possible plan is to listen to the guidance, remain with the background for a while and then move on when the sound ends. Another is to finish with the guided part. These are organisational examples; this guide does not prescribe an exact fade length or promise that you will fall asleep before it ends.

Distinguish an ending from an interruption

Audio can continue with the screen locked. If headphones disconnect, however, playback pauses; reconnect them and resume, as the support page explains. An unexpected stop should therefore be checked against the connection and playback state before assuming that a fade has finished. If the problem repeats, note the app version, device model and what happened, then consult support.

Try the experience without confusing access options

One full five-minute Sigh of relief session can be tried once without a card or subscription. Further sessions and all settings require paid access: a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase. The introductory session is not a subscription free trial. Hushbreath is for relaxation and general wellbeing; neither a longer background nor a gradual fade guarantees sleep.
