Voice or background sound? Choosing your evening audio

By ·

Start with the kind of listening you want tonight: words to follow, or a simple sound in the background. Neither choice is a test, and you do not have to use the same setup every evening. This guide explains how to compare the options and make a small, deliberate adjustment instead of searching endlessly for the perfect sound.

Decide what you want to hear

Spoken guidance gives you instructions to follow. Background audio adds a sound such as rain, waves or ambient tones. These play different roles: a background is not a breathing instruction, and a narrator does not have to be accompanied by music. If you want fewer layers, start with voice only.

Choose a voice before changing the mix

Hushbreath offers a female or male narrator. In Settings, choose your language and preview a voice. Listen for whether the words are easy for you to follow at a comfortable volume. Keep the same ritual while comparing voices, so you change one preference at a time. You can stop the preview as soon as you have enough information.

Let the background stay in the background

Choose rain, gentle waves or an ambient soundscape if you want an additional layer. Hushbreath has separate voice and background volume controls. If the background competes with the instructions, lower it first rather than making everything louder. If you prefer voice only, that is also an available choice. There is no required volume ratio.

Make a short comparison

Begin with your chosen voice, then try one background at a lower level. Decide whether you prefer the combination or the simpler version. You do not need to compare every option. Headphones are optional: use your phone’s speaker if that suits your space. Keep playback controls within reach and pause whenever you want.

Before you put the screen away

The public listing for Hushbreath 2.0.1 confirms offline narration and soundscapes, and playback with the screen locked. Start playback before locking the screen. If following a breathing instruction feels uncomfortable, stop and return to normal breathing. The purpose of these settings is a listening preference, not a guarantee of sleep.

Access and next steps

One complete five-minute Sigh of relief session is available once without a subscription. Continued access to all rituals and settings is paid through a monthly or annual subscription or a lifetime purchase; there is no subscription free trial. Check the current offer in the app. For your next evening, remember one preference you liked rather than a perfect combination.
